Cosmetic Injectables Specialist in Houston

There are two general purposes for which Dr. Reis’ patients seek nonsurgical treatment with dermal fillers: to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and to restore lost facial volume. Using one or more products from the Juvéderm and Restylane families of dermal fillers, Dr. Reis is able to achieve remarkable results that help patients look younger and more refreshed while still maintaining the natural movements and unique characteristics of their faces.

What are Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers?

Dr. Reis has achieved consistently stunning results employing the Juvéderm and Restylane families of dermal fillers, both of which are hyaluronic acid-based. Unlike BOTOX and other wrinkle relaxers that actually stop muscles from contracting to form common wrinkles, these products fill wrinkles and fine lines to give the face a smoother, plumper, and firmer appearance.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) occurs naturally in the body, especially in the skin’s connective tissues. HA attracts water molecules and absorbs them like a sponge, which is why hyaluronic acids are commonly used to “plump up” areas of the face that have lost volume as well as to fill wrinkles and fine lines. The use of HA fillers can also help promote the natural production of collagen, which helps to rejuvenate the appearance of treated areas.

JuvédermⓇ Injectable Filler Treatments

The Juvéderm family of dermal fillers includes five separate products designed to lift, plump, or smooth different areas of the face.1

Juvéderm Volbella™ XC

Juvéderm Volbella is used to plump the lips and diminish the appearance of lines around the mouth.

Juvéderm Ultra XC

Juvéderm Ultra XC is ideal for lip augmentation or to smooth perioral lines (lines around the mouth).

Juvéderm Ultra Plus XC

Juvéderm Ultra Plus is thicker than Juvéderm Ultra, which makes it ideal for treating deeper or more pronounced facial wrinkles. Juvéderm Ultra Plus can also be used to restore lost volume to the cheeks or other areas of facial contour.

Juvéderm Vollure™ XC

Juvéderm Vollure XC may be used to add volume to the lips as well as to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles.

Juvéderm Voluma™ XC

Juvéderm Voluma has been approved by the FDA to restore midfacial volume, lending fuller and more youthful contours to the cheeks and mid-face area. It can also be used to add volume, projection and definition to the chin and jawline.

RestylaneⓇ Injectable Filler Treatments

Restylane is made in a range of different formulations, each one designed to address signs of aging on specific areas of the face.2

Restylane Silk

Restylane Silk is ideal for plumping and rejuvenating the appearance of the lips. This product was the first to be approved by the FDA for lip augmentation as well as smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth.

Restylane Refyne™

Restylane Refyne is often used to soften laugh lines (at nasolabial folds and marionette lines)

Restylane Defyne™

Restylane Defyne is specifically formulated to treat deep nasolabial folds and marionette lines (or laugh lines). Patients treated with Restylane Defyne are able to keep making the natural expressions they are known for, but with a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

Restylane Lyft™

Restylane Lyft is used to diminish signs of aging on the face and on the hands by restoring lost volume.

Dermal Fillers FAQs

Is treatment with dermal fillers painful?
Dr. Scott Reis is highly experienced in the injection of dermal fillers, causing the least discomfort possible. Additionally, injection sites may be topically numbed in advance and some fillers even contain lidocaine, making for a more comfortable experience.

What are the potential side effects and risks of dermal filler treatment?
The most common side effects of treatment with dermal fillers include pain, redness, or bruising at the injection site. These generally subside within a day or two. Other (very rare) risks associated with dermal fillers include:3

– Lumps or the ability to feel the fillers under the skin. This can corrected with gentle massaging of the treated areas

– Rashes and infection

– Over-correction of wrinkles resulting in an unnatural appearance. This can be reversed with an enzyme that breaks fillers down

– Itching

When will I see results after injection with dermal fillers?
With all fillers, the results are immediately visible, but due to swelling from the injection process and the water-attracting quality of the fillers, full results can take up to a week.

How long will wrinkle treatment and volume enhancement from dermal fillers last?
Depending on the type of filler and the area treated, most patients are able to enjoy the results of their nonsurgical rejuvenation for a minimum of 6 months and up to 24 months.
