What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian butt lift, sometimes referred to as BBL, is a multi-step cosmetic surgery procedure performed to enhance the shape and volume of the buttocks. Preparing for BBL Surgery
The first step in preparing for a Brazilian butt lift is to attend a personal consultation with Dr. Reis. During this appointment, Dr. Reis will conduct a physical examination and also review your medical history to determine whether you are a good candidate for butt lift. You will have the opportunity to candidly discuss your cosmetic goals, and together you will decide if a Brazilian butt lift is right for you.
The Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure
A Brazilian butt lift is an outpatient procedure performed under general anesthesia or IV sedation. To begin the procedure, Dr. Reis creates very small incisions and uses a narrow cannula to harvest fat from donor sites. This fat is purified and processed, then Dr. Reis injects the fat into the buttocks, sculpting the area according to your goals to achieve the best aesthetic results.
Recovery After Brazilian Butt Lift
Following a Brazilian butt lift, it is normal to experience some bruising, swelling, and discomfort at both the donor sights and in the enhanced buttocks. Dr. Reis will prescribe medication to help you stay comfortable, and you will wear a compression garment for 4 weeks to help with healing. Most patients are able to resume their normal activities four to six weeks after a Brazilian butt lift.

Is a Brazilian butt lift permanent?
Some of the fat injected into the buttocks during a Brazilian butt lift will be naturally metabolized and absorbed by the body over the first few weeks after the procedure, so the results will not be as pronounced as when the procedure was first performed. Taking this into account, Dr Reis overcorrects and injects more fat initially than desired, to correct for this absorption of around 30-50% of the fat that is transferred. The rest of the grafted fat will stay in place for many years to come and be permanent.
