Hair Restoration

Hair Loss Solutions Performed by Dr. Reis

Natural Hairlines for Men and Women

These days hair restoration is an incredibly simple procedure that causes minimum discomfort for the patient. In fact, the anesthetic used is the same used by most dentists, and hair restoration procedures are less invasive than even the most minor of dental procedures.

Suitable for both men and women, hair restoration procedures aim to create the most natural appearance possible on balding or thinning areas while creating realistic density as well. Dr. Reis takes particular pride in providing the most natural hairlines possible for both female and male patients.

Dr. Scott Reis has the necessary skills and experience to obtain natural-looking results time and time again. This is due partly to his many years of experience practicing plastic surgery, but also due to his desire to satisfy the needs of his patients by restoring the look that they’re most comfortable with.

This is a hair restoration procedure that permanently eliminates any bald patches and remedies receding hairlines without the linear scarring that typically characterizes hair transplant surgery.

Our FUE procedures involve the transfer of hair follicles from the back part of the head to the balding or thinning area. The hairs along the back of the head are chosen because genetically they are not sensitive to the hormone that causes hair loss in males as well as females, and they retain this quality after transplantation so are permanent. The individual hair follicles are removed using a 0.9mm) diameter punch. The device makes a circular incision around the hair follicle to enable the extraction of the individual follicle or graft. All of the extracted grafts are then counted and sorted based on various characteristics to enable optimal graft placement.

The last part is where the artistry and expertise of your hair transplant doctor are critical. The sorted follicles are then transplanted to the desired area of the hairline and the scalp to restore the hairline and increase the follicle density where needed most. This is done by using a microscopic knife to make invisible incisions where a single follicular graft is placed. This is meticulously all done by hand, one graft at a time, to ensure the proper angle, orientation, and curve of the hair in relation to the surrounding hair follicles and a natural hairline. Routinely, anywhere from 1500 to 4000 grafts are performed in a single session, depending on the unique needs of each individual patient. This can take anywhere from 3-8 hours and is done in a single day.

The percentage of graft survival using this technique is greater than 95% overall, and since the transplanted follicles retain their resistance to the hormone that causes hair loss in these areas typically, the grafts are permanent.

Our hair replacement solutions are custom made to meet the individual needs of each of our clients. Our non-surgical hair replacement procedures seek to add just the right hair volume that looks and feels natural.

Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is an exciting, non-surgical hair regrowth option that is more powerful than oral and topical drugs available and much more powerful than the non-scientifically backed herbal and all-natural remedies that abound on the internet. PRP was initially used to expedite the healing of damaged joints after surgery or injury by accelerating the tissue’s own growth potential. Plastic surgeons quickly realized the potential for PRP with its high concentration of growth factors, stem cells, and platelets to encourage new hair growth and lost hair regrowth.

During the procedure, a simple blood draw is performed like in any lab or office. After processing the sample in a centrifuge to separate out the desired components, the PRP is then injected just beneath the skin of the affected part of the scalp. Typically, you will need to be injected every eight weeks for 3 to four treatment sessions to see optimal results, but some patients see significant improvement after just one or two treatments. After this, the injections are spread out over 4 to 6 months for a year or two. The treatment plan is planned out based on the amount or pattern of hair loss, your age, hormones, and genetics.

We do not recommend the procedure for patients with advanced stages of hair loss as they are unlikely to have an adequate response to restore a natural and thick appearing hair density with PRP alone.
